New Feature Gives Apple Device Owners More Control of Device Updates
Starting September 3rd, 2024, employees with Apple computers can defer most application and OS updates for up to 30 days, after which updates will be automatically applied. Critical security updates may still be forced when necessary.
The Unified Apple Endpoint Management team created a new feature to allow Apple device owners to delay most application and OS updates until it is convenient for you. Critical security updates are exempt and may be forced when necessary.
Beginning September 3rd, 2024, at 1:30 pm, employees with Apple computers will receive the following notices when an OS or application update is available.
You will have the option to defer updates or install them immediately. If you defer an update request, you will receive periodic reminders for 30 days. At the 30-day mark, the updates will be automatically applied to your computer. You may manually apply updates at your convenience by selecting “Updates” in the Self-Service Hub.
