Filex Update
The Filex update introduces a secure, scalable platform for transferring large or sensitive files, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and FERPA standards. It replaces the legacy system with enhanced features like CAS authentication, automatic encryption, and extended storage options for improved user experience.
Overview
The DSA Filex Update project focuses on communicating and managing changes to the Filex secure file transfer service used across the Division of Student Affairs (DSA). Filex is positioned as a secure, compliant method for transferring sensitive or large files that cannot be sent through email, including HIPAA- and FERPA-related data. Recent updates include the retirement of the legacy Filex instance and enhancements to authentication and visibility for users. These updates have been shared through DSA IT Liaison meetings and supporting slide decks maintained by DSA IT leadership. The project also includes post-launch review activities to evaluate adoption and effectiveness of the updated Filex platform.
